Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016)

UK/US 133m, Colour
Director: David Yates; Cast: Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton, Jon Voight, Carmen Ejogo, Ron Perlman, Colin Farrell

fantastic-beasts-and-where-to-findFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a convoluted effects-filled fantasy based on J. K. Rowling’s novel of the same name. The film’s abysmal script does little to explain who the characters are, or why we should care about them, and as a result, fails to develop any meaningful relationships between them. Despite its box office success, this is a deeply disappointing film and a disservice to the wizarding world (Klaus Ming February 2017).
