Café Society (2016)

US 96m, Colour
Director: Woody Allen; Cast: Jesse Eisenberg, Jeannie Berlin, Steve Carell, Blake Lively, Parker Posey, Kristen Stewart, Corey Stoll, Ken Stott.

cafe-societyCafé Society is a glamorous romantic comedy set in the 1930s about a young man from the Bronx who moves to California to find work with his uncle, a successful Hollywood agent. Eisenberg’s Allen-esque styled performance as Bobby is well-matched to Kristen Stewart’s surprisingly strong performance as Veronica, his true love. An elegant film with beautiful camerawork and exquisite sets and costumes, Café Society, though an amalgam of many of Allen’s previous films, is an intelligent and entertaining film in it’s own right (Klaus Ming March 2017).
