The Brand New Testament (2015)

Belgium, France, Luxembourg 113m, Colour
Director: Jaco Van Dormael; Cast: Benoît Poelvoorde, Catherine Deneuve, François Damiens, Yolande Moreau, Pili Groyne, Laura Verlinden, Serge Larivière, David Murgia

God is an abusive asshole who lives in Brussels. He blames his son for giving people hope, and his daughter defies him by informing everyone on earth the hour of their death. God’s submissive wife, who mostly tends to their apartment eventually has some fun when she re-boots her husband’s computer. A surreal dark comedy, The Brand New Testament is a witty critique of religious belief and the absurdity of a sadistic god who is responsible for everything that is wrong with the world (Klaus Ming March 2017).
