Le Voyage Extraordinaire (2011)

France 80m, Colour; B&W
Director: Serge Bromberg, Eric Lange: Cast: Costa-Gavras, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Michel Gondry Michel, Michel Hazanavicius, Nicolas Ricordel, Eric Lange, Tom Burton

The Extraordinary Voyage is an engaging documentary about the films of Georges Melies and the story of the nearly impossible task of restoring a “decomposed” nitrate hand coloured copy of his best known film Le Voyage dans la lune (1902). A fascinating technical achievement that would undoubtedly have amazed Melies, the restoration of this extraordinary film is a remarkably interesting story in itself (Klaus Ming April 2017).
