Picasso and Braque Go to the Movies (2008)

US 62m, Colour/B&W
Director: Arne Glimcher; Cast: Martin Scorsese, Alexander Blaise, Adam Gopnik, Tom Gunning, Owen Lund, Julian Schnabel

Using comparisons of images from early film and the combined visual works of Picasso and Braque, Picasso and Braque Go to the Movies argues a rather unconvincing thesis that film had a formative influence on the development of modern art, and particularly cubism. Narrated by Scorsese, the film offers glimpses of some interesting ideas on the revolutionary nature of early cinema as an art form, but many others which sounded as artistic prattle (Klaus Ming May 2017).
