Westworld (1973)

US 88m, Colour
Director: Michael CrichtonMichael Crichton; Cast: Yul Brynner, Richard Benjamin, James Brolin

Westworld is a science fiction thriller about a theme park filled with androids who are there for the amusement of human visitors who pay $1000.00 per day to live out their fantasies without fear or repercussions. Not surprisingly, the mechanical amusements begin to malfunction with deadly results. Unfortunately, the production values, acting and screenplay are poorly developed and are badly dated. Despite a number of attempts to rework this material, it was not until the 2016 HBO television series of the same name, that Crichton’s vision would be fully realized (Klaus Ming May 2017).
