From the land, from the sea, and from the air, Dunkirk is stirring drama in three parts about the allied troop withdrawal from Dunkirk, France during WWII. Containing very little dialogue, and organized in a non-liner fashion, this is a visually impressive film that does not suffer from sentimentality, nor does it attempt to provide any back stories which otherwise would have weighed down this tightly woven and brilliantly economical screenplay (Klaus Ming July 2017).
