The Mummy (2017)

US 110m, Colour
Director: Alex Kurtzman; Cast: Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Sofia Boutella, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance, Russell Crowe

As one of the most recently re-made Universal Horror monster movies, The Mummy is yet again reawakened in a story that also resurrects Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. In meeting a wise cracking Tom Cruise, who spends much of the movie being beat up, The Mummy sets off in too many directions and ultimately fails to deliver a story of any consequence. Though the box office success is likely to spawn another installment, this one should have been left in the sarcophagus (Klaus Ming August 2017).
