A sequel to Boyle’s 1996 Trainspotting, “T2” is fittingly set twenty years after Mark Renton and friends “chose” the Edinburgh drug scene. Still dealing with the consequences of their mistake-filled youth, and Begbie’s recent escape from prison, the old crew look to make amends. In reuniting the cast, Boyle has also captured the style essence of the original film. A self-referential story, T2 also offers a nostalgic and thoughtful look into the messed-up lives of his iconic characters (Klaus Ming August 2017).
