Sunshine is a dark and deeply emotional science fiction thriller about humanity’s attempt to resurrect its dying sun. With earth’s last hope riding on the successful detonation of a massive explosive, the crew of the Icarus 2 are willing to sacrifice everything in an attempt to deliver their explosive payload. Reminiscent of thoughtful films such as Solyaris (1972) and 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), the introduction of a horror subplot detracts from the film’s otherwise graceful and haunting mood (Klaus Ming September 2017).

Not a big fan of this one. I really liked the first two acts. The sudden monster movie that broke out in the third act didn’t quite work for me.
I find this movie so disappointing specifically because of the terrible third act. It makes it so much worse that the first two acts are near-perfect and beautifully filmed. Such a disappointment!
Perhaps i’m too forgiving of the monster elements of this film, but I agree that the third act was disappointing.
