The Dark Tower (2017)

US 95m, Colour
Director: Nikolaj Arcel; Cast: Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, Tom Taylor, Claudia Kim, Fran Kranz, Abbey Lee, Katheryn Winnick, Jackie Earle Haley

A western science fiction fantasy, The Dark Tower is based on Stephen King’s  eight book series of the same name that takes place in both modern-day New York City and an Old West-style parallel universe known as Mid-World. Experiencing visions of this parallel universe, an eleven year old boy teams up with the “Gunslinger” to save both worlds. With a story that is overly simplified for the grand plot it presents, The Dark Tower is a mediocre film full of tired ideas and clichéd characters (Klaus Ming October 2017).
