Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond – With a Very Special, Contractually Obligated Mention of Tony Clifton (2017)

Canada/US 94m, Colour
Director: Chris Smith; Peter Bonerz, Jim Carrey, Randall Carver, Danny DeVito, Milos Forman, Paul Giamatti, Jerry Lawler

A fascinating and poignant documentary about Jim Carrey’s portrayal of the late comedian Andy Kaufman in the critically acclaimed film 1999 Man on the Moon. Set against twenty-year-old footage that was shot during the making of Milos Forman’s film, and responding to questions from Bonerz in a recently filmed interview, Carrey reflects on the shared experiences as a comedian and the broader existential questions about reality and who we really are. Jim and Andy is also a reminder of the superb acting talents of Jim Carrey, as well as the oddball comedic genius of Andy Kaufman (Klaus Ming November 2017).
