A Quiet Place (2018)

US 90m, Colour
Director: John Krasinski; Cast: Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe

With minimal dialogue and utilizing American Sign Language in place of voices, A Quiet Place is a clever and nearly silent horror film in which a family is terrorized by creatures who are drawn to them through sound. Notwithstanding a couple of minor formulaic “family” plot elements, Krasinski and Blunt give credible performances in a movie that is largely effective for what you don’t see (Klaus Ming January 2019).
