Mirai no Mirai (2018)

Japan 98m, Colour
Director: Mamoru Hosoda; Cast: Moka Kamishiraishi ,Haru Kuroki, Gen Hoshino, Kumiko Aso, Mitsuo Yoshihara, Yoshiko Miyazaki, Koji Yakusho, Masaharu Fukuyama

Mirai is a baby girl who disrupts her older brother’s happy family life in a well-worn tale that is intended to teach patience and understanding. To demonstrate this point ad nauseam, Hosoda has Kun launch himself into fits of jealous rage throughout much of this highly irritating movie. Filled with lazily conceived and otherwise inexplicable adventures with his dog, older sister and relatives from the past, present and future, Kun eventually learns his lesson. Mirai no Mirai is a highly predictable and unlikeable film that is almost as annoying as it is overrated (Klaus Ming February 2019).
