Stan and Ollie (2018)

UK / Canada / US 97m, Colour
Director: Jon S. Baird; Cast: Steve Coogan, John C. Reilly, Nina Arianda, Shirley Henderson, Danny Huston, Rufus Jones

Stan & Ollie is a melancholy story of the aging comedy duo’s 1953 Irish and UK tour which they hoped would encourage interest in their plans for a new comedy film based on Robin Hood. Playing the title characters, Coogan and Reilly capture not only the look and mannerisms of Laurel and Hardy, but also their charm and comedic timing. In glossing over their formative years and rise to stardom, Stan and Ollie feels incomplete and is likely of little interest to anyone not already familiar with their contributions to comedy (Klaus Ming March 2019).

    Does sound interesting though.

It is interesting, but not really entertaining. I wanted to like it a whole lot more than I did.
