Director: Charlie Kaufman; Cast: Jesse Plemons, Jessie Buckley, Toni Collette, David Thewlis
A deeply melancholic and surreal psychological drama, I’m Thinking of Ending Things is based on Iain Reid’s 2016 novel of the same name. Lacking any explicit reveal, Kaufman’s adaptation is mesmerising, but not as rewarding as it might have been if the film’s plot had been more easily grasped. Despite the obfuscation that will leave most viewers scratching their heads (including myself), ultimately this is a peculiarly satisfying film that both demands and requires a second viewing (Klaus Ming September 2020).

It is on Netflix and we started watching it, my wife and I. At some point I fell asleep and when I woke up they were still sitting in the car, her talking to herself. At that point we just gave up.
