Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (2020)

US 96m, Colour
Director: Jason Woliner; Cast: Sacha Baron Cohen; Maria Bakalova

As the long awaited sequel to Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006), Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan lacks the originality and shockingly insightful humor of the original film. Relying on a number of recycled pranks, the film’s brightest spot is the inclusion of Borat’s daughter, played by Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova, who’s fearless performance is the highlight in this unfortunately uninspired and overly sentimental sequel (Klaus Ming December 2021).
