A medieval heroic journey, this is a film adaptation of the 14th-century poem Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Faced with the opportunity to test his courage and establish his own legend, the layabout nephew of the King is challenged by a fantastical creature on Christmas day. The Green Knight is a dark and haunting film that offers multiple interpretations that can seem confusing on the surface but are richly rewarding with some depth of thought (Klaus Ming November 2022).

I liked this quite a bit, and am still disappointed at how much it was snubbed come award season.
I saw this when it first came out and was surprised how little attention it received as well. I re-watched and enjoyed it even more. Probably one of those films that will grow in importance over time.
