The Conversation (1974)

US 113m, Colour
Director: Francis Ford Coppola; Cast: Gene Hackman, John Cazale, Allen Garfield, Cindy Williams, Frederic Forrest, Harrison Ford, Teri Garr, Robert Duvall

the_conversationThe Conversation is a slowly unfolding psychological thriller about Harry Caul, an obsessively private individual and surveillance expert who discovers a potential murder plot during the course of his work. Already guilt-ridden from a previous job which contributed to the death of three people, Harry uncharacteristically gets involved, hoping to foil the murder plans. Made during the Watergate years, The Conversation was relevant in an age where, wiretaps, surveillance and paranoia was a regular topic in the North American evening news (Klaus Ming June 2015).
