Director: Tod Browning; Cast: Priscilla Dean, Lon Chaney, Wellington Playter, Gertrude Astor, Spottiswoode Aitken, Kalla Pasha

The Wicked Darling is a highly entertaining early melodrama about Mary, a pickpocket and her accomplice “Stoop” Connors who part ways after she falls in love with Kent, a gentleman who had recently lost his fortune and his fiancée. Contrasted against a high society woman, who couldn’t possibly marry a man with no money, the so-called “gutter rose”, is a sympathetic heroine who is played by Priscilla Dean, one of silent cinema’s finest performers (Klaus Ming April 2017).
